Genelaogy is in the news

Genealogy has been in the news a lot this week. TheToday Show had a series on genealogy which aired every day. Monday thru Thursday, an anchor did a segment on researching their family history. Then on Friday, they wrapped it up with information on how to research your genealogy which featured professional genealogist, Maureen Taylor. If you didn’t catch the series, it is on the Today Show Web site and is worth watching.

During the interview Maureen mentioned Dead Fred, the genealogy photo Web site. In the Denver Post yesterday, there was an article, “Dead Fred and the Commercial Appeal of Death,” that also mentioned the Web site and it’s connection to genealogy. It took 4 tries before I could get on the Dead Fred Web site this morning due to heavy traffic. So people must be looking.

There has also been lots of news stories this week about the genealogy of the Presidential candidates and their running mates. No doubt these stories will continue until the end of the election.

It’s exciting to see so much media attention given to genealogy. Now I’m off to the FGS Conference for a week of nothing but genealogy.
