The Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection (CHNS) Web site has a new look and an improved search. According to the Website, they have a new server and updated software. For users, that translates into a more user-friendly site and a better online experience.

CHNC is a joint project of the Colorado State Library, the Colorado Historical Society, and individual donors.
The Web site includes 147 Colorado newspapers published from 1859 to 1923, and has over 477,000 digitized pages.

CHNC has kept all the good stuff, like being able to browse the titles, and search by title, city, and county. It has changed and added other functions. For instance, it now allows a search in all the titles at the same time without locking up your computer. Printing is easier too, and you can now save the HTML file to your computer.

CHNC has been a rich source of information for researchers since it began. These latest improvements enhance an already good Web site.

CHNC made Family Tree Magazines “101 Best Web Sites” this week also in the “Online Newspaper Category.”
