NARA-Rocky Mountain Region to hold Fall Workshops

The National Archives-Rocky Mountian Region will be offering six genealogy workshops on 22, 23, 24 & 25 September 2008.

The topics will be:

Monday, 22 September
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. “Genealogy Research Using Census Records” presented by Kathy Anderson, Archives Technician.
1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. “Non-Census Research at NARA’s Rocky Mountain Region” presented by Rick Martinez, Archives Specialist.

Tuesday, 23 September
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. “Anchors Aweigh!, An Introduction to Immigration and Passenger List Microfilm at the National Archives” presented by Marene Baker, Archivist.

Wednesday, 24 September
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. “Using Federal Land Records: How to Find Homestead and Other Land Entries” presented by Andrew Senti, Bureau of Land Management.
1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. “How to Find Your Confederate Ancestors: Civil War Records” presented by Bill Nix, National Archives Volunteer.

Thursday, 25 September
1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. “Using Bureau of Indian Affairs Records to Trace Your Native American Ancestry” presented by Eric Bittner.

Classes will be held in Building 48 of the Denver Federal Center, 6th Ave. and Kipling Streets, Lakewood. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $10 per class. Checks, made payable to the National Archives Trust Fund, should be sent to the National Archives and Records Administration–Rocky Mountain Region, P.O. Box 25307, Denver, CO 80225. Dr. Roland Paul to speak at CO Pal-Am Fall seminar

Colorado Chapter, Palatines to America (CO-PAL-AM) is having their Fall All-Day Seminar on Saturday, 25 October 2008. The event will feature key speaker, Dr. Roland Paul of the Kaierlauten Archives.

    1a. “What I’ve Always Wanted to Know About German Research, but . . .” a discussion.
    1b. “Beginning German Genealogical Research” presented by Ann Lisa Pearson.

    2. “Emigration from the Pfaltz and Nearby Regions” presented by Dr. Roland Paul.

Buffet Luncheon included with registration.

Afternoon Schedule

    4. “Causes of Emigration” presented by Dr. Roland Paul.

    5. Question-Answer Session with Dr. Roland Paul.

The seminar will held at the Holiday Inn - Lakewood, 7390 W. Hampden (S. E. Corner of Wadsworth and W. Hampden). Pre-registration is necessary.
