Computer Interest Group to host Symposium in October

On 27 October 2007, the Computer Interest Group (CIG) of the Colorado Genealogical Society will sponsor a day of sessions designed for newcomers to genealogical computing. Topics are planned as follows:

  • Morning
    9:30 – 10:00 - Registration
    10:00 – 10:55 - Panel on major genealogy software
    11:15 – 12:30 - Introduction to Scanning
  • Lunch on your own
  • Afternoon
    1:30 – 2:45 - Sessions for each: Reunion, Family Tree Maker, The Master Genealogist, RootsMagic, Legacy
    3:00 – 4:00 - Sessions for each: Reunion, Family Tree Maker, The Master Genealogist, RootsMagic, Legacy

The Symposium will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 2300 S. Patton Court, Denver, Colorado. The cost will be $5.00 for CIG members, $10.00 for non-members. Watch for more details at the CIG site.

Black Genealogy Search Group 6th Heritage Festival

The Black Genealogy Search Group (BGSG) will present the 6th Annual Heritage Festival “No Moving Forward Without Looking Back” on Saturday, 6 October 2007.

John W. Bell, Buffalo Soldier Re-enactor, and donnie l. betts, of No Credits Production and Destination Freedom: Black Radio Days which profiles Africian Americans will be presenting.

There will also be exhibits, member displays, DNA discussions, and updates from organizations providing information on genealogy resources located in the Denver area.
