The Green Mountain Cemetery Index to Interment Books, 1904-2005 was recently published by the Boulder Genealogical Society. This index to Green Mountain Cemetery’s interment books from 1904-2005 contains just under 14,000 names and includes extensive source notes and maps. The book was compiled by Mary McRoberts and Cari Taplin.

Green Mountain Cemetery was established in 1904 and is located at 290 20th Street, Boulder, Colorado.

A new Web site, Free on Ancestry, highlights only Ancestry.com databases which are freely accessible to anyone. For Colorado, there is currently only one database: R.L. Polk & Co.’s Pueblo city directory, 1899-1900. To reach the link, visit the Free on Ancestry home page, then select “United States” and scroll down to “Colorado.”

Although there is only one Colorado source listed, you may want to explore the other states and countries, surnames, and research guides listed.

The site was created by Clear Digital Media to “help us promote our flagship website, Interment.net” - a site which features cemetery abstracts from the United States and other countries. Currently there are user-contributed cemetery records from 53 of Colorado’s 64 existing counties.

Time to update your bookmarks/favorites, folks. The Western History and Genealogy Department at Denver Public Library has a new address, a new look and new content for their Web pages.

Beginning with the home page, there is a changing gallery of historic photographs from the Department’s highly regarded Digital Image Collection. You’ll find links to the major categories of resources, plus news about the latest exhibits, classes, and seminars.

Links to databases have been consolidated, with a comprehensive list of all available databases on the Research Tools: A to Z page. This page lists not only Colorado and other Western resources, but many of the subscription databases available through Denver Public Library (many available from home, some available free in the library).

Spend some time exploring the updated site - you are bound to find at least one new resource for your genealogical research.

Roberta “Bobbi” King has been elected as a director to the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS). She has served on the FGS board for the past three years, and is their parliamentarian, publications chair, and bylaws committee chair. Bobbi is president of the Colorado Council of Genealogical Societies, Vice President of the Colorado Genealogical Society Computer Interest Group, and involved with other Colorado societies.

FGS was founded in 1976 and their membership includes genealogical societies, family associations, historical societies, libraries, archives, educational institutions, and genealogical vendors. The Colorado Genealogical Society is a Charter Member of the organization, being the first to join FGS. The Boulder Genealogical Society and the Columbine Genealogical and Historical Society are also Charter Members. Today, many Colorado genealogical societies are members of FGS.

Other Coloradoans who have served as FGS Board members are Colin James, David S. Vogels, Jr, Kathleen Hinckley, CG, and Betty Kaufman.
