The Arvada Family History Center is hosting a Family History Fair on Saturday, 21 October 2006. The day will begin at 8:10 AM with keynote speaker, Steve Rockwood, Manager of the Family History Library (FHL). He will speak about the changes that will take place on FamilySearch and the FHL latest acquisitions.
There are 20 classes planned featuring information on how to use the World Catalog, Preserving Records & Photo, Scandinavian Research, Catholic Records Research, Why doing Genealogy may help save your life, understanding Genograms and more. See the schedule for a complete list.
The day will include “Ask an Expert.” Teachers will be available during the fair for help with specific genealogical questions in their field of research.
For the novice: Download a pedigree/family group sheet online and fill it out and bring it with you. Staff will be on hand, to show you how to locate ancestors utilizing the many genealogical sites online and how to download a free genealogical program.
Lunch is available (order online) or you can bring your own.
