1910 census options for Coloradoans
A lot of publicity has resulted from yesterday’s announcement that Ancestry.com has completed an every-name index of the 1910 census. The Colorado portion of the database has 799,625 entries, more than double the 313,022 entries in the prior index (mostly heads of household only).
For COGenBlog readers who aren’t Ancestry subscribers, here are some options for accessing this database at no charge:
- Any branch of the Boulder Public Library
- Any branch of the Denver Public Library
If you know of other libraries offering Ancestry access, please add a comment to this post. (If you are commenting for the first time, it might be helpful to read our “Comments?” page.)
In addition, the Heritage Quest index to 1910 heads of households is available through many Colorado libraries. See the list in the Encyclopedia of Genealogy’s entry for HeritageQuestOnline - when you scroll down to Colorado, you’ll find six major library systems which offer access, including at-home access for individuals with library cards.
